What is Okayama AJET?
We are a group of JET volunteers within Okayama prefecture, working to create and host activities, events, a monthly newsletter, and to keep the Okayama JET community connected with each other and neighboring AJET communities.
Here’s your 2026/27 OKAJet Team!
Anna Wilson; President

Hiya! My name is Anna Wilson. I am from a tiny farm town in Pennsylvania, USA, but am now living in Okayama City. I am going into my 3rd year for JET. My variety of interests include traveling (solo and w/friends), Formula 1, karaoke, baking (I just love sweets), and just trying new things! I love to travel, so next on my bucket list is trying for tickets to the Shanghai Grand Prix next year, or traveling to Taiwan. I also love getting around different parts of Japan, and taking time to go to shrines when I visit new places. I plan to work hard as your president this year to create a bunch of fun events for our community, and hope to expand into some bigger group events with neighboring prefectures. I am extremely grateful to now call Okayama home. I look forward to meeting/getting to know y’all!
Maya Bewsher; Vice-President

Hello sweet peaches!
I’m Maya from Cheshire, England. I’ll be starting my 5th and final year on JET this summer. I live in Takahashi, and sometimes Saidaiji. I’m currently on maternity leave so my hobby is looking after my son, Beau, (and my husband, Liam). When I’m not on mum duties, I love travelling to watch 2.5D musicals and stage shows. Grab your penlights and uchiwa’s and come join me by all means! On slower weekends, I like to sign up for half marathon walking events or just chill with a good brew. Let’s have a fabulous year!
Karolina Wasilewska; Secretary

Hello everyone! My name is Karolina and I’m originally from Poland, but I grew up in Scotland. I’m in my 1st year on the JET programme as one of the prefectural CIRs. My job is probably a lot different from other JETs so I’m excited to connect with you all through AJET. In my free time I do a lot of crafts (crochet, embroidery, cross stitch, book binding, you name it), baking, and travel. Currently visited 25/47 prefectures 🙂 I studied in Okayama for a year so I feel like I have a pretty good knowledge of it as a whole, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I’m looking forward to having fun with you all this year!
Maya Bewsher; Interim-Treasurer
Elena Wilson; Media & Design

Hi! I’m Elena Wilson, a soon-to-be 2nd-year JET from Chicago, USA. I’m located in the tiny inaka town of Yakage, which is about an hour west of Okayama City by train. My first love is writing, and before JET, I was a reporter for newspapers and magazines around the States. I’ve been a K-Pop fan for almost a decade (feel free to yap with me, especially about NCT!), and I love going to concerts. I have mastered the weekend trip, and you can often find me in Kansai. My hobbies include traveling, trying new foods, discovering new music and studying Japanese (currently on the road to N3!). I’m so excited to connect with you all this year!
Alexa Davis; Media Officer

What’s up everyone! My name is Alexa and I will be starting my third year of JET this summer. I’m originally from the Mitten State of Michigan (if you know you know and if you don’t I will happily teach you), USA, and am currently placed up in the northeast section of Okayama in Mimasaka City. I’m a lover of the snow and an international and countryside travel enthusiast who is down for just about anything. If you can’t find me I’m likely car camping, tent camping, or traveling on the weekends across the prefectures. When I’m not on the go my hobbies include learning anything that catches my interest, reading a good book, socializing, hiking, crafting, running, cooking, watching anime – honestly I’m down to just kind of do it all. If you’re ever looking for travel recommendations or someone who is good for any adventure I’ll be around! I’m excited to connect with everyone and explore Japan together!
Wilson Yuan; Media Officer

Hello! My name is Wilson Yuan, a third year ALT from Vancouver, Canada! I am placed in the mountain town of chiyagyu and Pione grapes, Niimi, in the north eastern corner of Okayama! It takes me at least 1 hour 45 minutes to get to Okayama station by local train but that does not stop me from enjoying trips to the city. I enjoy things like drawing, cooking, and going on the occasional trip. I also enjoy typical Japanese things like anime and manga with “Bocchi the Rock” as my favourite (yes, “favourite” with a u) anime and “With You and the Rain” as my favourite manga. I look forward to being one of your media officers and meeting some of you in the future!
Lewis Spencer; Media Officer

Hello everyone! My name’s Lewis. I’m from Nottingham, England. I’m based in Tamano City right along the south coast of Okayama, and currently serve as the Block Leader of the Bizen A Block (easily the best one…)This August I’ll be moving into my fourth year of JET and look forward to getting a little bit closer to everyone despite the semi-inaka placement making me physically far away. My interests, as you’ll most likely be able to guess fairly quickly from the newsletter, are creative writing, gaming, traveling, and although my body shape might make it seem like I’m capping, football and exercising. I hope to meet as many new people as possible and also that everyone enjoys reading the newsletter as much as us media officers enjoy writing it!
